Take the role of a regular army
METAL SLUG 2 is an arcade game where you play a character from the Peregrine Falcons Squad (P.F. Squad) or Sparrows Intelligence Unit (S.P.A.R.R.O.W.S.), which are part of the Regular Army, to stop General Donald Marden of the Rebel Army’s second attempt at coup d'état.
METAL SLUG 2’s gameplay centers around shooting a relentless stream of rebels using various arsenals until the player reaches the end of the stage and the final boss. This is the second installment of the Metal Slug video game series and follows the story where the first installment left off.
Stop Gen Marden from another coup d'état
Prevent General Marden — and his extraterrestrial allies this time — again from conquering the world in METAL SLUG 2. In this action game, original playable characters from P.F. Squad, Capt. Marco Rossi and Lt. Tarma Roving, are joined by Sgt. Eri Kasamoto and Sgt. First Class Fiolina Germi from S.P.A.R.R.O.W.S. You can use one of them in the newly created mission mode. It's allowed to choose a stage to play in.
Aside from new playable characters, this game introduces new weapons, such as the laser gun, firebomb, and armor piercer. New vehicles, including a canon-mounted camel, a bipedal tank that can leap to great heights, and a powerful jet fighter armed with aerial missiles, are added as well. You must be careful, though. Purple-tinged attacks can transform you into a mummy and consuming food items can make you fat.
This game offers non-playable characters that can support you. For instance, Second Lieutenant Ichimonji is a prisoner who can mainly produce a surge of energy from his hands to eliminate enemies. However, one of the ultimate setbacks is its inaccurate controls, making it hard to control the character. Two of these also include constant FPS drops and black screen problems when facing the final boss.
An action-packed sequel
All in all, METAL SLUG 2 is an action-packed game that offers an array of new features, completely separating it from the first installment of the Metal Slug series. While it recycles the first game's final boss, this release has its own identity due to the new elements added in this installment. Unfortunately, there are reported encounters of drawbacks, including black screens, hard controls, and FPS drops.
